With Pro-C2 it was too fascinating to watch the red curves and set up automation for the threshold and ratio just to get the perfect gain reduction action. The peaks are out of control? I choose VLA-FET, move my mouse left to right clicking a few buttons on the way to roughly get the idea out of my head, make a few adjustments and done.
Now that I mix in a simpler way, I can just slap a BRA plugin for a specific task, set a few knobs and pretty much forget it. When I used FF plugins, I was always overwhelmed with options (it's a personal thing, I admit). Still, I prefer the sound of Magnetite, VPRE-73, VLAs and even VEQ-1P over Saturn when it comes to saturation. Saturn is a multiband and multipurpose beast, but has a high learning curve. Black Rooster Audio does both way better than FF. I'm a big fan of two things: saturation and simplicity.
